Christmas in Dubai

As part of our ‘Christmas Destinations’ series, today we are talking about the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates!

With year-round sunshine, intriguing deserts, beautiful beaches, luxurious hotels and dazzling entertainment, Dubai is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the world. But when it comes to Christmas, it might seem a controversial idea. Less than seven hours away, and with endless hours of sunshine, Dubai will make Christmas truly sparkle. From carol singing and the scent of fresh gingerbread at the Dubai Christmas Festival to visits from Santa himself at malls and hotels across the city, you can’t help but get into the Christmas spirit, in a city that embraces cultures and faiths from all communities.

Now in its 5th year, the festival will run between 8-10 December 2016 at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre. Santa’s Grotto, ice rink, pantomime and Christmas Carols there will be plenty to do to keep you entertained throughout the day.

NYE fireworks

Christmas travel guide to DubaiHead to Downtown Dubai for a street part leading up to the spectacular midnight fireworks display. Burj al Arab is one of the most popular tourist destinations on NYE. Major displays are held at Atlantis, the Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa, with each of the iconic landmarks competing to put on the most astounding, breathtaking show.

Fireworks fans will especially enjoy the area around Burj Khalifa and a lucky few ‘At The Top outdoor observation deck (the 2nd largest in the world)  will have the amazing views of metropolis.

Dubai will do its best to host the most entertaining NYE parties around the city to make up for the lack of snow.  You could be welcoming 2014 at Bright White event at the Kempinski Hotel & Residences Palm Jumeirah, which includes a gala buffet dinner in a luxurious marquee setting with live entertainment and front row view of the The Palm Jumeirah’s midnight fireworks. If this doesn’t sound like you, city’s Marine Beach Resort and Spa’s “My Boudoir” offers a unique night packed with lots of extraordinary entertainment, music and shows.

If you want to stay away from public events, you can watch the fireworks in Sunset or Kite Beach. Both these beaches are near the hotel and superb views are guaranteed.
