We all have goals. Whether its losing some weight or buying a new house, having a goal is a good thing. However, reaching them is sometimes difficult. If you are feeling down because you don’t seem to achieve your goals, keep reading this on.

Here are 8 simple steps to help you to fight for what you want. 


Dream about it

          It’s very important to have a firm, committed and well-defined goal that you keep in mind all the time. From the very small age they tell you, dreams are useless and don’t lead anywhere. This is not true! The very first step to achieve your goals is to dream about what you want. Once you know it and you desire it much, the rest will be much easier. Napoleon Hill, in his remarkable book, Think and Grow Rich, says: “The starting point of all achievement is desire. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat.”

Ask yourself why you want to achieve that particular goal. What will that do for you? Why is it important? How will achieving your goal change things for you?
Make a plan

      In his ‘7 Habits of highly effective people’ Stephen Covey said, “All things are created twice; first mentally; then physically.  The key to creativity is to begin with the end in mind, with a vision and a blue print of the desired result”. Put a date on your goal. Create action steps to follow. This will help you work and invest your time more productively. I advise you break down big goals into smaller parts that you can meet the short term.

Be patient

    Do not give up if you do not see immediate results. Everything takes time. Continues to perform small actions , over time you’ll see that they are beginning to help you achieve the bigger picture.

Improve yourself

    Learn all you can about yourself during this time. It’s a great time to figure out your strengths and weaknesses and work on them. For example, if your goal is to buy a house you should think about saving up for mortgage. If you see you’re not quite there after a couple of months, perhaps your weakness is that you can’t save up. Consider cutting back on your other spending or review your action plan to adjust it to your current situation.

Positivity is the key

    Surround yourself with positive people. It is very important for the people around you to be positive and have a mindset similar to yours. This will give you motivation and will help you to cheer up on a bad day.

Check your progress

     If you’re not making progress, don’t let your optimism keep you from accomplishing your goals. No matter how positively you are thinking, you need to be able to assess your lack of progress. Something can and will always go wrong. Take a look at all of the factors that are keeping you from accomplishing your goal and develop a plan to overcome them.

Do not be too demanding on yourself. Remember: Nothing is perfect, so allow yourself a room for mistake. Treat negative situations as a chance to improve and learn from them.

Ask for help

    Ask for help if you need it. Hire a coach, tap into the support of loved ones. Sometimes listening to the opinions of others can help us see other points of view that we will not realize straightaway.

Believe in yourself

   And finally, I’d say the most important part of achieving your goal is to believe in your dream. Visualize it , believe in it and, above all , believe in yourself . This is the magic formula on the road to the life you want for you .
