You don’t have to go back to school to brush up on your qualifications. But it is a good idea too if you want to make sure that you are the one that gets employed. There are several ways to do it, though. You could enroll in a seminar at a local community college or try an online course. You could also choose something that is specific to what you want to do. If you want to be employed in childcare, for instance, then you could think about getting yourself on a paediatric first aid training course. As much as we don’t want our potential employers to do it, a lot will check out our social media profiles. First of all, it is a good idea to check your privacy settings on things like Facebook. You don’t want just anyone to have access to all of your pictures do you? The second thing to check is just what you are posting on social media. If you have a Twitter profile, then are you just posting complaints or moaning about things? You want your profile to say something good about you and show you would be an asset to the workplace. Think about sensible profile photos and biographies too. You can show humor but being crass or unprofessional doesn’t set a good first impression.
